SUPPORTING REGULATORS AND INDUSTRY ASSOCIATIONS TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE

DEVELOPING A SAFER,
SMARTER HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

GS1 Australia works closely with government authorities to support regulations and industry associations in their goal to improve healthcare using ISO recognised standards.

Ensuring that regulations and processes are harmonised, interoperable and align both
regionally and globally, maximising value for all users.

GS1 provides the global framework for a trusted system of identifiers and vocabularies that regulators can rely upon for interoperability across borders and industries.

PROMOTING DIGITAL HEALTH THROUGH GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN STANDARDS

GS1 Australia, in collaboration with Standards Australia, is introducing global GS1 supply chain standards into the healthcare sector as nationally recognised Australian Standards.

This identical adoption ensures internationally aligned approaches to efficiency, traceability, and digital innovation, which are critical for improving patient safety, regulatory compliance,
and data quality across hospitals, suppliers, and service providers.

By reducing duplication and compliance complexity, we enable healthcare organisations
to focus resources where they matter most: delivering quality care.

With GS1 Standards now formally recognised in Australia and New Zealand, this work strengthens public trust, supports interoperability, and builds the digital infrastructure
needed for a resilient, secure, and future-ready healthcare system.
