Description:
The Health Industry Bar Code (HIBC) can be used in conjunction with the GTIN but not as its replacement. This is a required field where a company has assigned a HIBC to its product or where the product’s packaging contains a HIBC.
Example:
Monash Tissue Forceps has a 9312345678990 (GTIN-13) allocated as well as a HIBC of +H491400163246.
The value of this attribute is +H491400163246.
Useful Tips:
Items with HIBC code only cannot be loaded to the NPC. HIBC codes are approved as a unique ID value for the FDA therefore some suppliers may not have used GTINs
