Supply chain improvement project

GS1 Australia formed an Industry Working Group with key Australian food manufacturers, ingredient and packaging suppliers to define a common way to provide tighter integration of their supply chains.

Participating companies include: Nestle, Inghams, SPC, Lion Dairy and Drinks, Chr Hansen, Newly Weds Foods, FPC Food Plastics, Labelmakers, Matthews Australasia and Visy Industries.

The Supply Chain Improvement Project aims to increase the visibility of food ingredients and raw materials across supply chains – to deliver efficiencies, cost savings and improve food safety in Australia – with the use of GS1 standards for identification, data capture and data sharing.

Our standards enable automation of key ingredient sourcing, and traceability between food manufacturers and ingredient suppliers.

What some of our customers have to say about the Supply Chain Improvement Project

‘By having consensus across the industry on how to interconnect electronically and exchange critical operational data, we can realise cost-effective solutions across the end-to-end – from manufacturers, to suppliers, to customers – everyone benefits from this improvement in standardisation.’

Mandeep Sodhi
