Barcodes for selling on eBay

To sell your products as a business on eBay.com.au you will need to add a product identifier for most categories. GS1 barcodes and Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) are product identifiers. These help buyers to find your items quickly on eBay and when using search engines such as Google.

Note that new business listings with missing GTIN information may not list on eBay. Also, eBay listings of commodity products without identifiers such as GTINs are not accepted by Google for search submissions. To learn more visit eBay Seller Centre.

Barcodes increase your discoverability

Both within the eBay platform and on Google, products with a valid barcode/GTIN benefit from improved search rankings and improved online conversion rates. eBay requires sellers to match their listings to the eBay catalogue, including the barcode/GTIN number for inventory optimisation.
