Pooling the knowledge and experiences of Australian and New Zealand hardware industry participants, and following the lead of other global hardware initiatives, the Hardware GS1 Action Group has been set up to help develop, promote and deliver user guidelines, training courses and implementation programs relating to global GS1 standards.
The group is overseen by a representative leadership committee, made up of key retailers, merchants, wholesalers and suppliers from Australia and New Zealand.

- Methven (NZ)

- Placemakers (NZ)
- Repco
- Saint Gobain
- Super Retail Group
- Valspar Paint (NZ)

Deputy Chair: David Pollard, Placemakers NZ.
The Steering Committee meets three to four times a year and is responsible for driving the implementation agenda and work queues for the work groups.
GS1 Australia and New Zealand are actively working with industry with two working groups:
1. Master Data WG (Numbering and Barcoding, Data Synchronisation and Data Quality)
2. Greenlife (How the GS1 system works with plants and nurseries)
