B2B implementation program
Forge stronger customer relationships and build new efficiencies with the B2B Implementation Program. The program has been specifically designed for vendors as a fast track method for designing and implementing a B2B solution which meets the requirements of their trading partners (i.e. major customers) - that is companies that would like to become B2B compliant, but may need assistance with planning their project, implementation strategy, or data integration with their in-house systems.
This level of assistance provides the opportunity to use the GS1 Professional Services team to manage and progress the project, in conjunction with internal project sponsors, managers and teams.
B2B Program Methodology
The B2B Implementation Program involves five steps:
Step 1. Review B2B requirements
1. Assess your customers' requirements for B2B, including:
- Numbering and barcoding
- Electronic messaging
- Pallet labelling
- Scan packing
2. Investigate additional requirements from 3rd parties, such as transport and/or 3rd party warehouses
3. Review internal requirements in terms, such as:
- Systems capabilities for handling different types of documents
- Integration with electronic messaging systems
- Business processes around sales order processing, pick pack and despatch, invoice reconciliation, etc
- Availability of you company's internal skills to manage and support the B2B program
Step 2. Develop the B2B approach and solutions
Your GS1 Australia advisor works with you to develop the appropriate approach for technical and process solutions dealing with:
- eMessaging systems (in-house, outsourced, hybrid model)
- eMessaging data exchange
- Integration with existing systems
- Scan packing and labelling modifications
- Risk management and sustainability considerations
The report includes cost estimates for progressing the project to the implementation stage, including GS1 project management, software, integration, messaging and hardware costs.
Step 3. Implementing the B2B solution
Once a decision has been made and the relevant solution providers selected, your advisor coordinates all parties and activities for the project, producing project plans, detailed timelines and regular updates. Throughout the implementation, the following activities are undertaken:
- Installation
- Staff training
- End-to-end testing of new solutions
- Supporting business processes
- Go live processes
Step 4. Hand over of B2B operations
Once the B2B solution is operational with trading partners, GS1 Professional Services will hand over the operations and support to your staff members for ongoing management.
This phase covers the handing over of new systems, processes, support frameworks, relationships with third parties and risk management. The project is also signed off by the client, trading partners, solution providers and third parties.
Step 5. Reviewing and next steps
GS1 Australia Professional Services conduct a review of the operations two to three months from the hand over of the project. Your advisor will review and analyse the new systems, processes, supporting framework, relationships and risk management and highlight new opportunities to achieve even greater efficiencies.
