Personal Information held by GS1 Australia may include your name, current and previous addresses, telephone or mobile phone number, your GS1 prefix, email address, bank account or credit card details, and occupation.
Your rights
While you are not obliged to provide personal information to GS1 Australia, without this information we may not be able to provide you with an appropriate level of service. You may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if you believe it is incorrect or out of date.
GS1 Australia takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up to date.
Use of your personal information
Your personal information may be used in order to:
- provide our services (including GS1net™) to you and to manage and administer those services and your account;
- maintain and develop our business systems and infrastructure;
- gain an understanding of your needs in order for us to provide you with a better service;
- research and develop our services; and
- inform you of industry news and developments.
We may also use your personal information to promote and market other products and services that we consider may be of interest to you. If you do not wish us to contact you in this regard please tick the appropriate box on the GS1 Australia License Agreement or contact us directly per the details provided below.
Disclosure of your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to organisations outside GS1 Australia. The organisations to which we may disclose information include:
- our related companies our professional advisers, including our lawyers, accountants and auditors, service providers, contractors and agents who manage the services we provide to you
- your authorised representatives or legal advisers
- government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law
We may also disclose your name and contact details to persons enquiring as to who has been allocated a particular GS1 prefix.
