GS1 Australia has previously communicated some important changes related to a GS1net initiative called “Project DoubleNet”; a project which brings GS1net into alignment with GDSN standards for Net Content and Net Weight.
Project DoubleNet impacts the GS1net community in Australia and New Zealand on the weekend of 15 & 16 October, 2011.
On this weekend there will be a mass purge of data that exists in GS1net for 2 specific attributes.
• Units Per Pack - This attribute will be removed from GS1net entirely, which will include the removal of all content populated for this field
• Net Content (and related Unit of Measure) - Any GTINs with the field Net Content populated (where the GTIN is neither flagged as a consumer unit, nor flagged as the lowest level in the hierarchy) will have any entries for Net Content purged.
As a result of this data purge, no updates will flow to Data Recipients.
Going Forward
• Suppliers will not be able to load Net Content information where a GTIN is neither flagged as a consumer unit, nor flagged as the lowest level in the hierarchy
• Suppliers will not be able to load Units Per Pack for any GTIN
• The GS1net Validator will enforce ‘Block Errors’ for data that is loaded contrary to these new validation requirements.
Important
The new requirements only apply after the data purge on GS1net (15 & 16 October, 2011) – until that weekend suppliers will need to provide ‘Units per Pack’ and ‘Net Content’ data as they do today.
