Do you have business expertise with technical flair?
Global Data Synchronisation (GDS) is a system which lets trading partners access and exchange product information securely in real-time. GDS consists of trading partners (suppliers and retailers), data pools (services that hold and process trading partner data, in Australia that’s the GS1net system) and the GS1 Global Registry (a worldwide directory to help the GDSN community locate data sources and manage ongoing synchronisation relationships between trading partners).
The GDSN (Global Data Synchronsiation Network) standards which facilitate Global Data Synchronisation, is a set of agreed standards for the exchange of product information attributes which can be used by any company regardless of size, industry or location.
The Role:
The Senior Advisor – GDSN Standards Development will be required to co-ordinate, engage and prioritise the standards development activities in the area of GDSN, the core standard supporting GS1net. This role has a focus on the communication, negotiation and dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders. The key responsibilities are to:
- Actively participate in the appropriate GDSN work groups (which are GS1 sponsored international groups) that impact the GDSN standards
- Keep up to date with all work requests that relate to GDSN and assess the business, standards and local user impact of all work requests
- Ensure all identified GS1 Australia relevant stakeholders are engaged and understand impacts of active work requests
- Develop clear strategies to provide ongoing input to the global and local standards development of GDSN for GS1 Australia
- Provide education and training on the GDSN standards
- Provide a resource to support GS1 eCom enquiries and education
- Provide a resource to validate any content provided through the Content Approval System (CAS) related to GDSN and eCom
A key challenge of the role will be to comprehend and articulate the technical terminology of the GDSN requirements and their impact to the local GS1net data pool. In addition, influencing the GDSN standards development at a global level is a key part of this role and this requires flexibility in participating in international conference calls, often outside of normal business hours.
What we are looking for:
Ideally you will have knowledge of GDSN standards and the GSMP (Global Standards Management Process) processes and knowledge of electronic messaging standards in particular GS1 XML. You must however, have strong analytical and problem solving abilities, strong organisational, administrative and communication skills and excellent attention to detail. You must also have the ability to effectively communicate and establish rapport with staff at all levels and juggle competing priorities. You will have strong PC skills with use of Microsoft Office and be technology savvy, particularly as it relates to standards and emerging technologies relating to supply chain management. You must be able to work autonomously without day to day direct management.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate with innate technical capabilities and strong relationship building and communication skills.
